Hopefully your stay in Switzerland will be most enjoyable and exciting. However, there is always a risk that illness could strike while you are on holiday. Should this happen, doctor's bills and hospital costs can soon mount up. If you do not have any health insurance, you will be liable to pay all these costs yourself. It is advise you to take up a health insurance policy for the duration of your holiday, even if you are insured abroad under your statutory health insurance system. Your statutory insurer will be able to provide informatíon on the cover they provide in Switzerland. Certain expenses will not, however, be covered. Prime amongst these are repatriation costs. An additional travel health insurance is thus recommended to fill such gaps.
